Are you really embarrassed about your entries?

Absolutely!

Why do you refer to your mom and dad as "Mother" and "Father"?

We were definitely not what you would call a "touchy, feely" family and looking back, I see how awkward and formal that sounds. Without going into deep analysis I can only say that we all needed to "loosen up" a little. Lots of factors were involved and this is just one of those areas that I find embarrassing.

Do you edit the entries from 1966?

No, I don't change a word. Everything is transcribed as originally written - run on sentences and all. One thing that disturbs me is that my writing hasn't improved much.

Do you update every day?

I wish I had the time. Writing doesn't come easily to me and I struggle with every word.  One of my teachers in college would return my papers with criticism about awkward sentence structure. She really hammered the point home though my writing is still awkward and self conscious (and slow).

If I ever learn to relax I may reach a point where I can make a daily entry.

Why are you doing this?

I want to remember myself.

What does "Backward Rain" mean?

Someone used that expression to explain what I do for a living. (I'm an irrigation contractor)  I liked the metaphor.
